چکیده
Background: Determination of gestational age is an important step pregnancy management and foetal development evaluation in obstetrics. Any error this estimation results prematurity or post maturity case if the expected date delivery not known, there high chance perinatal mortality near outcome. Hence it achieving uneventful gestation to have a sensitive, specific independent obstetric biometric parameter that stays constant throughout gestation. Trans-cerebellar diameters (TCD)/ abdominal circumference (AC) ratio are reliable, predictors assess evaluate fetal growth. Aim was compare accuracy TCD/ AC with head (HC)/ predicting asymmetrical IUGR.Methods: A prospective study conducted over period one year on 100 clinically suspected IUGR pregnancies who were evaluated BPD, HC, FL along TCD measured for assessing sonological age. Two morphometric ratios-TCD/AC HC/AC calculated. Estimated weight calculated all these its percentile determined. Then those cases followed up post-delivery new Ballord score CAN (clinical assessment nutritional status at birth) calculated. Results: In present study, sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV DA 83.93%, 65.91%, 75.81%, 76.32% 76% respectively TCD/AC versus IUGR. Conclusions: Both ratios can be used detecting good diagnostic accuracy. However, had better validity compared asymmetric

Screening for intrauterine growth retardation using ratio of mid-arm circumference to occipitofrontal circumference.
Uncritical application of standard weight percentile charts, derived from white infants, to infants from different ethnic groups may result in an overestimate of the incidence of intrauterine growth retardation in those groups. The ratio of mid-arm circumference to occipitofrontal circumference was studied in 194 babies (49 Asian, 58 black, and 87 white). In contrast with birth weight the ratio...
متن کاملMid-arm circumference and mid-arm/head circumference ratio in term newborns.
CONTEXT Mid-arm circumference of the newborn is strongly associated with birth weight and is a very good indicator of low and insufficient birth weight. However, there are few Brazilian studies on the relationship between mid-arm and head circumferences and, thus, this does not form part of the routine evaluation for newborns. OBJECTIVES To establish the mid-arm circumference and mid-arm/head...
متن کاملHead circumference in Iranian infants
Introduction: Head circumference (HC) measurement is one of the important parameter for diagnosis of neurological, developmental disorders and dysmorphic syndromes. Recognition of different disorders requires an understanding of normal variation for HC size, in particular, in infancy period with most rapid growth of the brain. Because of international and interracial standard chart differences ...

OBJECTIVE To analyze studies that assessed the anthropometric parameters waist circumference (WC), waist-to-height ratio (WHR) and neck circumference (NC) as indicators of central obesity in children. DATA SOURCES We searched PubMed and SciELO databases using the combined descriptors: "Waist circumference", "Waist-to-height ratio", "Neck circumference", "Children" and "Abdominal fat" in Portu...
متن کاملUltrasonographic normogram of fetal kidney circumference and fetal abdominal circumference ratio for early prenatal diagnosis.
Serial ultrasound scans were done in 300 fetuses between 16 to 24 weeks of gestation to establish the normogram of fetal kidney circumference (FKC) and fetal abdominal circumference (FAC) ratio (FKC/FAC). Of 300 fetuses, 150 fetuses were in the high risk group for fetal malformation and 150 patients were in the control group. The value of FKC/FAC varied from 0.27 to 0.30 from 16 to 24 weeks of ...
